BARBARA L. de MARE
Ms. de Mare specializes in
Trusts and Estates concentrating
in creative solutions to generational transfer issues.
One of New Jersey’s finest estate planning attorneys, she also has
extensive experience in New York, having started her career forty (40) years
ago in the Trusts and Estates Department of a large New York law firm.
In executing estate plans for her clients, Ms. de Mare concentrates on tax
savings devices such as those described in this brochure without losing
sight of the personal needs of her clients.
Thus she is also experienced in preparing Personal Needs Trusts, ante
nuptial agreements, living wills and powers of attorney.
In addition to her preeminence in the field of estate planning, Ms. de Mare
has outstanding expertise in post mortem estate planning, estate and trust
administration, probate practice, including the institution and defense of
will and gift contests, contested accounting proceedings, actions to remove
to a fiduciary, and related issues.
As many of her estate planning clients are business owners or executives,
she is proficient in the estate tax planning and other aspects of such
business documents as stockholders agreements, partnership agreements, and
employment agreements.
Additionally, she has extensive experience in such related corporate matters
as mergers, acquisitions and liquidations.
Ms. de Mare has been widely published in legal journals and has taught
estate planning and administration to both lawyers and lay persons.
She has donated her talents to the bar and the public as a past
president of Bergen County Legal Services and as a founder and past
president of Women Lawyers in Bergen.
She has also served on the Board of Directors of many civic and
religious organizations, and has served on and chaired bar association
committees relating to estate planning and administration.
After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from Cornell University, Ms. de Mare
graduated from St. John’s University School of Law, where she earned various
awards and scholarships for outstanding academic excellence.
